Dear Miss Thieman,

I received letters form the Department of Justice directly and from Mr. Uhl from Ellis Island, that I have been granted extension of my temporary stay till September 1, 1941. Since I have made application for pre-examination, they will not consider my application for a student visa.

Sincerely yours,

Thomas Doeppner

It seems Opa has received the letter we read from June 26th, you can see it here. This letter is Opa's perfect summary of it. It seems his path toward pre-examination is set now. If approved, he'll exit and re-enter through Canada. Canada or bust?
